Leeann is originally from Puyallup, Washington and considers the Pacific Northwest her home, currently residing in Portland, Oregon. She began studying the flute in school at age 11, and sixteen years and two music degrees later, she has a love and enthusiasm for music of all kinds that she hopes to share with her peers. She believes that she is part of a generation that has the potential to positively influence America's interest in the arts and use music and technology for substantial change, bringing people together around the world. Leeann has formal training in flute performance with a Bachelor of Music from Washington State University and a Master of Music from the University of Oregon. As a flutist she has received music scholarships, won Young Artist competitions, performed extensive solo and chamber repertoire, and regularly premieres new works. She has participated in masterclasses for well-known performers and teachers, and has taught private lessons on the flute since 2002. She is currently working on her Music Technology certification through the Oregon School of Music Technology at Portland State University, with training in recording and production. Leeann performs regularly with So Now Then, an ensemble of flute, accordion, and cello, with a recording to be expected next year. She also regularly performs traditional Latin American music with Ricardo Cardenas, guitar, of Eugene, Oregon. Leeann’s musical interests span many styles, with the belief that there is good and bad music of every genre. She has an admitted weakness for music that makes her want to get up and dance, with much respect for those that can combine quality and the urge to shake your booty.
